The Association of American Geographers’ Annual Meeting
April 9th-13th in Los Angeles, CA
The Dedoose team is getting ready to hit the road again! Every year, we attend research conferences across the country and are honored to share Dedoose with researchers across many fields and disciplines. Next week, we’ll be joining the Association of American Geographers (AAG) for its annual meeting at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles, CA to kick off the tour! (#dedoosetour2013)
Special thanks to Dedoose user Ben Spigel for tipping us off on this awesome conference! Watch out for Ben’s profile on our blog next week.
Why are we so excited for this conference?
Well for starters, we’ll be meeting geographers, GIS (geographic information system) specialists, and environmental scientists from around the U.S. to hear about their research and to introduce them to Dedoose!
We will also have the pleasure of hearing from accomplished individuals in the field such as Jared Diamond and Charles Mann, two authors who have worked the last two decades to put cultural and historical geography before a mass readership and move the field forward. They will be discussing their most recent books and answering audience questions during a special session hosted by AAG and its new publication, The AAG Review of Books. But the meeting isn’t exclusively reserved for geographers —there will also be special sessions centered on improvements for K-12 geography education and talks about race and environmental determinism. Being that we are researchers too…we are really looking forward to it!
So we were thinking…
What a great excuse to hang out with our users in the area. If you’re going to the conference, we will see you there! Just look for our exhibit. Snap a photo with the Dedoose Moose and grab a tote bag so you can Dedoose, Reuse, Recycle! If you’re simply in the LA area and want to meet up with the team while we’re out and about, shoot us an email at [email protected]. We would be more than happy to set up a meet and greet to chat about your research and your experiences with Dedoose.
Keeping up with the tour
Throughout the year, we will be Facebooking and Tweeting about exciting conference news and announcing where we’ll be meeting users via the hashtag: #dedoosetour2013. Keep an eye out on Twitter if you know that we’ll be coming to a conference near you!
